As a retired registered nurse and former military spouse, there have been many places that have been called home. Blessed to have the opportunity to explore and seriously pursue painting in a variety of mediums, I currently work in oil, acrylic, watercolor and pastel. I enjoy painting in the studio and plein air, incorporating abstract, landscape, portraits and still life subjects. The spectacular weather and scenery of Colorado Springs is a daily inspiration for me and travel with a small watercolor sketchbook is a must!
Today, I find myself studying art and its history and delighting in every minute. Workshops and classes with local Colorado professional artists have helped to refine my technique and include: Reveille Kennedy, Jane Hunt, Martha Mann, Lorenzo Chavez, Chris Alvarez and Daniel Edmundson.
As volunteer watercolor instructor with the dementia therapy program called MEMORIES IN THE MAKING (MIM). I enjoy working with dementia residents, The classes enhance their ability to artistically communicate and express the world in their terms. It is a wonderful way to blend my nursing experience and share my love of watercolor with this special group.
Painting, for me, is the ideal venue to express my emotional and spiritual response to a subject. In this digital age, I am drawn to interpreting the human experience or nature’s beauty through my original art’s interplay of colorful expressive brushstrokes and compositional design.
My works are in private collections in New York, South Carolina, Georgia, Oklahoma, Florida, Arizona and Colorado.
