2-Day Indoor Workshop
with Lorenzo Chavez August 23 & 24, 2019

Concept to Completion
This 2-day indoor workshop will focus on achieving a new level of landscape painting ability, using your own photographic information and interesting design concepts. We will use our reference material to create a new and more interesting painting.
Demonstrations and critiques will be conducted as a group and on an individual basis. Plenty of personal attention is the goal of the instructor.
Lorenzo Chavez
Lorenzo Chavez was born in New Mexico, where the striking landscapes, varied cultures and colorful history helped him develop an appreciation for art at an early age. He studied at the Colorado Institute of Art and the Art Students League of Denver. Intensive private study of the Impressionists and 19th century American and Russian painters have made him aware of the wonderful possibilities and importance of painting from life.
Since 1985, Lorenzo exhibits in national invitational exhibitions across the country, including the Pastel Society of America, Pastel Society of France, Pastel Society of Spain, Artists of America, The Northwest Rendezvous Group, The Plein Air Painters of America, C.M. Russell Museum, Buffalo Bill Art Museum, Laguna Art Museum, Gilcrease Museum, Landscapes of the American West, Loveland Art Museum, Pasadena Art Museum, Autry Museum, The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles, The Leigh Yawke Art Museum, Koshare Museum, A R Mitchell Museum, Albuquerque Museum, Bradford Brinton Memorial Museum and Artists of the West.
He was invited to exhibit 7 pastels at the 2010 summer Exhibition for the Society of Pastelists in France and 3 pastels at The Pastel Society of Spain. Lorenzo’s work is featured in many prominent fine art galleries and magazines, including Art of the West, Southwest Art, Pastel Journal, Art-Talk, Pratique Des Art, and American Artist. He has been cover artist for The Artist’s Magazine and the Pastel Journal.
Lorenzo’s paintings are included in several books including Pure Color: The Best of Pastel and Art Journey America, both published by North Light Books; The Plein Air Year published by Jack Richeson Books; and Colorado Landscapes.
Lorenzo is an active member of the Plein Air Painters of America, Western Rendezvous of Art, California Art club, American Impressionist Society and the Pastel Society of Spain.

Seasoned Pastel Artists of the Pikes Peak Region

Pastel painting exhibit by members of the Pikes Peak Pastel Society curated by Laurel Justice, also a pastelist. Emphasis on Spring in our fair region, including any genre, still life, landscape, figure, abstract. Unframed BIN paintings will also be available.
Join us for First Friday on May 3 from 5 – 8pm. There will be a food truck in the parking lot. The Gallery is also open on First Saturday from 12 – 4pm in case your collectors or you can’t make it on Friday night.
Laurel will host an artist talk on Wednesday May 15 from 5 – 7:30pm.
