For many years I have worked as a watercolorist and a printmaker. I enjoy working in the combined mediums and now I am working in pastel and loving it!
My goal with each new painting is to create a vivid, luminous, southwestern image. I see southwestern architecture and landscape as a backdrop for the Spirit of the West. I am always trying to capture the mood and my favorite element in all my paintings, the light and shadows.
I want the viewer of my work to relate to a timeless view, hopefully wishing to take an excursion to that interesting place.
Rayann Orr was born and raised in Colorado. One of six children, Ms. Orr attributes her passion for art to her grandmother, an artist who was born and raised in Taos, New Mexico. From her grandmother, Orr inherited her first set of oil paints and brushes and her sensitive eye for the unique landscapes and structures of the Southwest.
