Lyn Farrell and her husband, Brian, retired to Colorado Springs in 2015 from their lifelong home in Houston, Texas. Lyn had a 38-year career as a financial regulatory attorney and began painting in pastels after her retirement in 2018. She has been a member of the Pikes Peak Pastel Society since 2019 and began serving as its president in 2023.
Lyn enjoys painting a variety of things, including landscapes, still life, figures, and portraits. Her focus in creating art is to find a meaningful expression of the beauty in the object or scene she paints. After a lifetime of “left brain” work she is enjoying learning all she can about artistic disciplines and applying them to her painting practice.
She began her artistic adventures painting with acrylic and watching YouTube videos. After discovering pastel she never looked back. Pastel is the most wonderful art medium. It is a combination of painting and drawing. Pastel is so forgiving and versatile that even beginners can love it.
Lyn loves taking art workshops and plein air painting with friends in the Pikes Peak Pastel Society.
The Farrells have five children and four grandchildren spread throughout the country. They enjoy entertaining friends and fellow artists in their Colorado Springs home.
