It has been my good fortune to live in visually spectacular areas since moving to Colorado in 1974. In the last few years I have discovered the joy and sometimes frustration of painting on location. Being immersed in the sights, sounds and smells of nature while I’m painting has added an element of liveliness to my subject matter. My studio work has also benefited from this painting practice. Pastel seems to be the perfect medium for me since I love to draw as well as paint and the pastel sticks lend themselves to creating both line and mass. My work reflects a love of the natural world, particularly the change of light that comes with the various seasons, weather and at different times of day. I hope that my interpretations of these scenes bring viewers a greater sense of their own connectedness to nature.
My paintings may be seen at Abbey Lane Gallery in Creede, Colorado.
